Join us in Cooperstown for the 2nd annual CX@Brewery Ommegang! Details on the NEWS page.
Thanks for visiting teamscarr.com. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments. Hopefully we can answer a few questions for you up front. Here's our FAQ and mission statement-
- No, we do not have any free beer to give away just because you want some. If you want free beer, come to our CX race this fall and win some, or put on a local race and ask us to donate some prime prizes.
- Membership is open to anyone of legal racing age. But if you're under 21, #1 goes doubly for you!
- "SCARR" stands for Salt City Area Road Racing. The founder of the original Team SCARR (from back in the 'Wednesday Night Worlds' days at the Bikery) graciously allowed us to use his acronym. Thanks, Jeremy
- Syracuse is known as the "Salt City" for the large salt deposits and mining operations that went on until ~1920. Does the name make sense now?
- No, we do not drink Ommegang whilst riding. The water bottles would blow up. But you may notice we will often cut a ride short to head back to Greg's house for some Three Philosophers....
- #5 may have something to do with our results.
- If you become a team member, #1 does not necessarily apply. And soon after that so will #6
Mission Statement
Team SCARR-Ommegang is a USCF-licensed road cycling team dedicated to riding and racing to the best of our abilities in a fair and sportsmanlike manner. We strive to train and race hard and always with respect for those we share the road with. We are not a cycling "club" and focus our energies on racing and training.
We will respresent our sponsors appropriately and responsibly.
Our friendships, within the team and the the cycling community as a whole, are far more important to us than the results of any race. We will never engage in any unsportsmanlike conduct or unfair practices.
We offer a judgement free team structure. Age, sex, racing category, ability, etc, will never be a factor in anyone's membership or association with the team. However, if you don't like Belgian Ale we simply have no use for you.
Our primary, and only real, responsibility is to have fun. And to enjoy some fine Belgian-style beverages, of course....
